Josef Wagner's Memory Control
„Memory Control“ ist die mittlerweile zum Sextett angewachsene Band des Bassisten und Komponisten Josef Wagner. Neuestes Dokument der Formation ist das 2015 auf Sessionwork Records erschienene Album „Mardo“. Als Sextett fällt „Memory Control“ zwar noch eindeutig in die Kategorie „Combo“, allerdings mit dem hochgesteckten Ziel, formal wie auch klanglich, ähnlich abwechslungsreich und vielschichtig wie ein Orchester bzw. eine Big Band zu agieren.
Die breite Ausdruckspalette der Gruppe und ihr dynamisches Spiel zwischen Jazztradition und Experiment sorgen für ein spannendes Hörerlebnis.

Josef Wagner is an Austrian bassist/composer currently leading his own group "Memory Control" which released their debut album "The Wonderful Music Gives Happy You" in 2012 and the
follow-up "Mardo" in 2015. Besides that, he works as composer for "Punches & Judies" as well as bassist/composer for the "LA Big Band". For "Mardo" it was his goal to expand the formal and tonal possibilities of a six-piece group within his personal composing style. The excellent musicians involved perform difficult written-out passages with perfection and additionally show their qualities as highly individual improvisers.
