CHRISTOPH PEPE AUER

Christoph Pepe Auer was born in 1981 in Tyrol, Austria. From the age of 5, he studied music. In 2001 he began his studies at the university for music in Graz to study jazz saxophone. His teachers during this time were Florian Bramböck, Karl-Heinz Miklin, Heinrich von Kalnein and Klaus Dickbauer. In 2005 he received his master's degree of arts. Christoph is now a composer and saxophone player, based in Vienna, Stockholm and New York. He also had lessons from Dick Oatts, George Garzone, Donny McCaslin, Branford Marsalis, David Binney, Tony Malaby, Marcus Strickland, Jason Lindner and more in New York. He has played and composed for musicians like Adam Holzman (keyboard, Miles Davis Band) and Joseph Bowie, as well as the Vienna Art Orchestra. In 2005 he participated in the I.A.S.J. meeting, directed by David Liebman, a representative of the University of Graz. In 2007 he initiated the composers-collective called the ‚Vienna Jazz Composers’.
